Breakwater

Docks

The need to install the Breakwater last fall 2024 was due to the fact that the marina faces the widest and roughest part of Lac Tremblant.

The marina is therefore exposed to the most powerful waves and damaging spring ice flows.
Spring ice flows have permanently damaged the marina’s fixed wharves and Series 100, 300 and 400 covered berths.

The series 300 jetty has de facto served as a breakwater, but the Québec government will not permit PLTN to make any repairs to its creosote-coated caissons.

The fixed wharves at the marina can only be replaced with floating wharf solutions.

For the environmental protection of the entire marina, a long and wide floating breakwater, permanently fixed to the lakebed, was installed to resolve the annually recurring shoreline, wave and ice flow damage.

Since the breakwater will be floating, it also has significant environmental advantages for the restoration of the Baie du Diable lakebed. It will not cause sedimenation, unlike the existing creosote-coated caissons and fixed wharves.
